About the Artist
Gilles Leduc, Gil de Fish, was born and raised in rural mid-northern Ontario where he was entrenched in the farming community. Living close to nature, he developed a deep appreciation for simplicity and beauty. During the course of his life, this self-taught artist became familiar with the art & culture of the First Nation dwellers of the Lake Nippissing area, which has influenced his style and approach to sculpting.
In 1992, he settled in the Ottawa region to pursue his academic studies. His style and ideas constantly evolve and the challenge of recreating the ‘expression of movement’ continues to drive his creative development.
