Giving. Parkdale Gallery is actively involved in the community and supports a variety of charities. Here you can browse events that we held between November 06 to September 07.

Ottawa International Connections and Peace Dividend Trust . September 24th, 2007.

The Peace Dividend Trust is a nonprofit foundation dedicated to making peace and humanitarian operations more efficient, effective and equitable, delivering a stronger peace and a larger peace dividend. Parkdale Gallery was pleased to host an event on their behalf.

Scott T. Gilmore is one of the founders and Executive Director of Peace Dividend Trust (PDT) and was invited by the Ottawa International Connections to speak about his career at the gallery. Scott is currently on leave from the Canadian diplomatic service, where he was most recently the Deputy Director for the South Asia division, leading the work on integrating Canada's defense, development and diplomatic assistance to Afghanistan.

Working directly with international organizations and local businesses, PDT helps the international community and large institutional buyers to procure goods and services for war ravaged countries. In 2006 alone, the project has redirected over $40 million in new spending into local economies.

Blaze Aid - September 15th, 2007

James Robinson

Three Somerset Street apartment buildings were destroyed by fire on August 16, 2007. It took 65 firefighters more than 10 hours to knock down the stubborn blaze. On September 15th 2007, one month later, local Open Stage musicians held a simultaneous Open Stage at 6 separate venues to help the 31 fire victims who lost their homes and possessions.

With the generous help of local businesses, the Somerset West Community Health Centre and the Hintonburg Economic Development Committee, this was an Open Stage event like no other. Musicians from every part of the city participated and Parkdale Gallery owner James Robinson auctioned one of his paintings to help raise funds.

Thanks to Dan and Laura-lee Baker for organizing this community event!
