About the Artist
Born in Halifax, James grew up with comic books and cartoons. Self-taught as an artist but always wanting to improve, he moved to Montreal at nineteen to attend the Academie Des Arts. Confrontation with artistic style found him leaving within a year. Discovering an artistic subculture that thrives in Montreal, James was introduced to airbrush. Combining old world brush work with modern airbrush technology he produces the art you see today.
Moving to Ottawa in 2000, he now lives and works in Hintonburg, the QUAD. In 2006 James opened the Parkdale Gallery. He is well known thru the commission works he does for clients, portraits and the occasion praise in the media. Currently he is working on a series of paintings representing everyday scenes from Hintonburg. Drop by the gallery to meet him and Blitz, “gallery dog”.
