About the Artist
Lorne is a visual artist, who uses the camera as his medium, and whose primary subjects are performance artists. In 1999 he opened a photography studio in the Westboro Village, in Ottawa's inner west end.
In 2003 he became involved in photographing ballroom dancers in competition. In all of these situations, the challenge is to capture the sense of excitement. Using the camera to deliberately blur the images of the performers, he creates interpretations of their art, in a abstract form. Images are segmented and then reconstructed on panels in deep frames.
