About the Artist
Rae Bourassa has been painting for about 10 years. She works primarily in acrylic, on stretched canvas. She is constantly experimenting with new techniques to create her vibrant and ever-evolving abstract paintings. In April 2004, Rae added silk scarf painting to her repertoire.
Rae first studied visual arts at Canterbury High School, which boasts an innovative intensive art program in Ottawa. Though she studied vocal music as her primary specialty, Rae became intrigued by the variety of expressions and media visual arts has to offer. She experimented in photography, sculpture, painting, and sketching. Since then she has worked primarily with acrylic paints, due to their dazzling colours and wide range of texture.
