About the Artist
Sandor Derrick takes pictures of objects and everyday things that people take for granted:cracks in the streets and walkways, manhole covers, tire tracks, oil stains. His photographs present these images in ways that make them beautiful. Shapes are isolated and combined in ways that give them new life.
He has been drawn to the images on urban streets and walls. Graffiti and off the wall objects first caught his attention a few years ago and he has explored the theme “Street Art: Beyond Graffiti”.
Sandor captured images from the graffiti on the Berlin Wall before it was dismantled. These images and others from Eurpean cities are powerful within the context of the politics of our time.
